The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) are laws set to control and affect the manufacturing, sales and distribution of technology. The legislation seeks to control access to specific types of technology and the associated data. CAFAM can optionally be set to control and show compliance with the requirements of these Regulations when such Parts subject to these Regulations are being Ordered on a Purchase Order.
The process of setting this up is a matter of entering the Part Number affected in the system in SETTINGS & PARAMETERS > CONTROL FILES. Then when a Purchase Order is being placed, CAFAM will check the Part Number against this list to either caution you or seek a password to proceed thus making you aware of these Regulations and your tacit acceptance of them.
